Knock around a few ideas for what to eat, etc. in the comments section.
***Update***
We're considering March 7th from 7 P.M. - 12 A.M. as the time for the Loft Tour.
That would leave 5 hours for the tour, and we could divide that time by the number of people who want to show their places.
After we figure out the time schedule, we could either move from floor to floor, or have a "sign up sheet" on the blog for specific times. That way, if someone wanted to go early or late, they could.
Feel free to join the tour even if you're not showing your place

I really like the idea of the progressive dinner. As for a date, what about sometime in early March?
I am fine with any date. Early March would be great. And I like progressive dinner the best. The people who dont want to cook can be at the end of the tour and just serve drinks. We can have three, four or five courses.
Early March sounds good, but we will be out of town the 14th through the 20th.
Anybody have any dates in mind? The 7th perhaps? I think Saturday will be a good day, since Friday people will be coming home from work, etc.
Regarding the food, should we have a theme, should it progress like an actual meal, or should we just leave it wide open?
Another factor to consider is a schedule. Depending on the amount of people participating, do we want to specify an amount of time to be spent at each person's place, or should we just wing it?
this sounds great.
just a thought, how about a progressive topas kind of thing. snacks all over instead of a course?
Hello neighbors!
Happy New Year!
I was in Chicago in December, visiting a friend who owns a loft in Greek town, and I specifically went up there for their annual building party.
It was amazing! And I got alot of ideas for our party......so I will share some of them....use them if you like:
They posted a sign up sheet in the lobby....listing your unit, # of people that will be attending (family and friends were invited), and whether or not you wanted your loft included, and what you were serving.
They organized it by floor...
2nd floor...any units that wanted to open their doors could do so at 7:00 pm.
Then, our tour guide, directed us to the next floor at 7:50.....and so on, and so on.....
This way, you only needed to be in your unit for an hour, not counting the minutes prior for setting up.
Also, on the lobby sign up sheet, everyone lists what they will have in their unit for food and drinks.
One other cool thing they did..... the elevator was set up like a cocktail/lounge area. If residents do not want to open their units to mass crowds, they can contribute food or drinks on the elevator or in the lobby.
It was a PHENOMENAL loft tour, and I was so inspired and hoped that we could start our own PHENOMENAL event.
I have a lot of picutes from the tour and would share more ideas if needed.
^ Those are great ideas Debbie. I would love to have them incorporated into our little loft tour. As for organizing this shindig, I've never been a part of a progressive dinner or tour but can help out in any way needed. It sounds like we have a good group of interested people already.
I like all the ideas Debbie has thrown out there. The floor to floor idea is good, but the downside would be: that with the size of the group, it might divide up people, or have someone waiting in their loft for people to come while everyone's having fun.
This is my suggestion: either have equally assigned times for each, individual person, or assigned times for each floor, and then divide up that time by the number of people on the floor who want to participate.
I like the idea of a sign up sheet listing what each person will be making. Just like an office party, this assures everyone that there won't be doubles on the menu. I like Wendy's idea of tapas, but I'm also thinking that 6th floor should be dessert, but that's just my suggestion.
I'll put a paper sheet in the lobby for people who want to sign up that way, and I'll update everything on the blog.
I really like the floor by floor idea. Also the progressive dinner.
i was thinking i would do sweets and coffee? if someone could lend me a bigger coffee maker :/
I am interested in participating and happy to have cocktails & fondue at my place. Not sure how the schedule is to be layed out yet but I'm in 312, if we are planning by floor.
Wendy if you still need a coffee pot you are more than welcome to borrow mine, it's a 10 cup. Just let me know.
count me in as long as the 6th floor is last....giving a concert on Manchester so will need time to get back home and get ready. Definitely able to dessert and drinks.
You'll be 11:00-12:00
I'll add you to the list
